Conference Overview
The objective of this conference is to provide a broad overview of cutting-edge genomics in various areas with a strong emphasis on the pig. This meeting is organized by the PigNet network aimed at connecting search groups involved in Pig genomics (www.toulouse.inra.fr/pignet)
Key lectures:
- Rob Beynon (University of Liverpool, UK) “Protein turnover in muscle: strategies to understand a dynamic Proteome”.
- Michel Georges (University of Liège, Belgium) “Uncovering roles for miRNAs in shaping phenotypic variability in livestock” .
- Silvia Vincent Naulleau (CEA-INRA, France) “The Melanoblastoma-bearing Libechov Minipigs: an accurate model to improve the knowledge of anti-tumoural self defence”.
- Anna Olsson (CeBRA, Denmark) “Pig Genomics and the public”.
- David Simpson (Queen’s University Belfast, Ireland) “The pig eye as a model for human retinal degenerative diseases and development of stem cell therapies”.
- Peer Bork (EMBL, Germany) "Comparative Metazoan genome analysis for predicting functional divergence and deducing evolutionary features".
-Jonathan Flint (Welcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, UK)“Whole genome association reveals the genetic architecture of complex traits in mice“.
- Jane Rogers (Welcome Trust Sanger Institute, UK)“Pig genome sequencing -
progress and prospects“.
In addition to these lectures, the programme will include posters sessions and oral presentations from selected posters (abstract format and submission: see the registration website).
Lodi is a charming town with a thousand year agricultural tradition located in the Lombardy region, only 15 miles away from Milano and its main airports. Pig Genome I will take place at Parco Tecnologico Padano (PTP), an Ag-bio cluster that brings together the PTP-CERSA Research Centre, the University of Milan, biotech companies and an enterprise incubator (http://www.tecnoparco.org).
